Samsung NC10 with Mac OS X

What are the chances of getting an Apple 10″ laptop for £300? Maybe in 20 years time!

Samsung NC10 Running Vista Ultimate

There’s a video up on YouTube of the Samsung NC10 modified to run Vista Ultimate.

The NC10 in question has been modified with an extra gig of RAM, but the results are very impressive nonetheless.

Probably not fast enough performance for heavy duty gaming, but this shows off the power of the NC10.

Samsung NC10 Battery Life

The Samsung NC10 claims up to 8 hours of battery life. In practice you get a little less than this, but it still way outperforms any competition. While some netbooks boast long life at under 3 hours, the NC10 goes comfortably for just under 7.

Why does it perform so well? While some manufacturers brought out ‘me too’ laptops, Samsung realised that the point of a netbook is you can take it anywhere. And anywhere doesn’t necessarily have power sockets. So they sacrificed a little weight (around 35g extra – the weight of a bag of crisps) to boost the life with a 6-cell battery.

This test graphic from LaptopMag shows just how great it is:

That’s right – at 37.5% brightness (comfortable if youre not in direct sunlight) the NC10 goes for almost 7 hours.
